Everything known about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate!
Yesterday was the LAST Nintendo Direct for the upcoming game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it was FILLED with so much information. It was 40 minutes of new characters, lore about the new Adventure mode, the rumored “Spirits” and so many more details about how to navigate through the game.
First things first, the next installment in the Super Smash Bros. series already had more than a handful of characters to choose from. Well in this direct you now have two more characters that joined the fight. Ken from the Street Fighter series as well as Incineroar from the Pokemon series. Both these characters bring their own unique fighting styles with them. Even though Ken is an echo character of Ryu, his attacks do differ in many ways. Whether it is adding fire and more style to the attacks, or making contact with your opponent more than once. Incineroar on the other hand has more pro-wrestler moves where you can even throw your opponent of the ropes like you were in an actual wrestling match. With Incineroar it is also a lot about timing because if you time things right you can really punish your opponent and if not you might fail a move or worse, fall off the map. Below are a list of the moves shown for Ken and Incineroar.

Ken
Heavy Shuroken (Fire added)
Hellwheel
Hadoken (different shape from Ryu’s)
Tatsumaki Sempukyaku (connects multiple times)
Focus attack
2 Final smashes - Shinryuken, Shippu Jinrakyaka (when you are close to opponent)
Incineroar
Cross chop (easy to fall off map)
Throws people against ropes (timed) - hit after ropes too early you will perform a back body drop, connect to late you will fail to connect, if you connect just right you will land a Lariat
Darkest Lariat
Can pose after moves (like a wrestler) but can cancel if you want
Revenge
Smash - Max Malicious Moonsault
Nintendo also said they will be having a Fighters Pass similar to Dragonball Fighterz. These passes will be $25 instead of having to pay $5 for every character coming out. Each fighter DLC comes with the fighter, a new stage and new music. Pirahna Plant will also be a new character added after launch, but I don’t think too many people will be interested. Along with new characters being added, the Direct showed more Assist trophies that will be in the game at launch. The list of the newly added Assist Trophies are below.
Assist Trophies
Yuri Kozukata - Fatal Frame Maiden of the Black Water
Issac - Golden Sun
Black Knight - Fire Emblem
Thwomp - Super Mario series
Spring Man - ARMS
Willy Capsule - Mega Man
Flies & Hand - Mario Paint
Tiki - Fire Emblem
Vince - Art Academy
Guile - Street Fighter series
Akira - Virtual Fighter series
In total, the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster will consist of 74 playable characters and 59 Assist Trophies. Most importantly, when you first receive the game and go to the character selection screen there will only be 8 playable characters to choose from just like in the first Super Smash Bros. (Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox and Pikachu) so you will have to unlock EVERYBODY ELSE!
Lore was also added to the Direct about the Adventure Mode and how the fighters in the game happened to come from a different world where all the Nintendo characters have not survived. Obviously the fighters in the game survived the attack and the ones that didn’t are now Spirits which you can be used in battle.

There is a lot information about the Spirits, but the most important thing is that there are 4 different classes. There is Novice, these are standard. Advanced, these are a bit stronger. Ace, these are especially powerful. Then there is Legend, these are as Nintendo put it are in a league of their own.

There are Primary Spirits which are assigned one at a time, and with enough slots can get assigned Support Spirits to help out and lend extra abilities to you.

The Adventure Mode is called “World of Light”, where Kirby is the hero which is great because Kirby is my main.
Along with new characters, lore and modes, there will be new amibos coming out on the launch date of the game as well as more coming out in 2019. On the day Super Smash Bros. Ultimate comes out, Inkling, Wolf and Ridley amibos will be coming out so you can purchase those if that is your choice. On February 15th, King K. Rool and Ice Climbers will be available for purchase. Later on in 2019 available amibos will be Ken, Pichu, Daisy, Young Link and Issabelle.
The video to the last Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate can be found below to catch all the other details about the game. Remember Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available on December 7th. I would suggest to get those controllers warmed and be ready to settle it in smash! Until next time y’all. PEACE!
