Nintendo Switch Lite: First Look

What’s going on y’all it’s your mans Wav3yGawd here again with some news that will LITEN (lighten) your day. Yes I understand that was probably the lamest joke ever in life but getting away from that, Nintendo has just made another announcement for the fall of this year! While the Nintendo Switch is still selling quite well and as the gaming catalog grows larger, you can now experience them all on the Nintendo Switch Lite coming to stores September 20th for just $200!

There have been rumors of this for a while, matter fact I saw and read different articles of Nintendo doing this sometime last year. Seeing how PlayStation had the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and the PS Vita and Nintendo is already the king of handhelds with such devices as the Game Boy and Nintendo DS I was not really surprised that Nintendo made the smaller version of an already small console.

While it may look the same as its predecessor, there are a couple differences between the regular Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite. The most obvious one is that this console is strictly handheld so it can’t be docked to your TV, in my opinion this kind of eliminates the whole "Switch" name but to each its own right?! The main unit and control inputs are both integrated into one hardware, the control units are different from the regular joy-cons so there will be no rumble or IR-Motion features and the directional buttons have been replaced by a D-pad. So if you want to play parties such as “1,2 Switch” with your friends you will have to purchase joy-cons. However, since it’s a newer version of the console doesn’t mean you can’t play the same games. It will be able to play all the games in the Nintendo Switch catalog that has a certain label on the back where the picture will have a handheld version of the Switch. Now of course Nintendo would have to find a clever marketing strategy for the Switch Lite, so on November 8th to celebrate the release of Pokemon Sword & Pokemon Shield there will be a limited edition Zacian & Zamazenta Edition, the name obviously being named after the two new legendary Pokemon in the upcoming games Pokemon Sword & Pokemon Shield. If you want to know more about these games you can check our write up on them here.

Personally I won’t be purchasing a Nintendo Switch Lite since I already have a Nintendo Switch, but if you don’t already have one and don’t really care about motion controls or docking to your TV you can always purchase this in the fall. Nintendo announced their newest addition to the Nintendo Switch family via a video so if you haven’t seen it you can check it out below. Are you all going to purchase a Switch Lite?! Let us know in the comments. Until next time y’all, PEACE!
